My seven year quest for a drake Wod Duck came to an end this morning in the swamps of the Blackwater River. With two days left in the four day early season I'm hoping for a few more but I won't get greedy.I will wait until next week to write a proper post with all the details from this weeks hunts.

NICE! Funny, I shot my first drake wood duck of the season today!
Nice Woody Tug! I recently moved to the Deep Creek part of Chesapeake and came across your blog while searching for local duck hunting info. I've done a little paddling out on the Blackwater River. What a great place man! I went duck hunting last year for the first time with my brother-in-law and now I'm hooked. If you're ever looking for someone to go out with you whenever youre home off the boat give me a shout. My wife and I had a little girl about a year ago so sometimes I get a little tied up, but I try to get out and hunt whenever I can. Again, nice looking Woody man, congrats!
Nice drake!! I haven't shot a Woody in ages. great job

DirteJp I hunt quite a bit down in Chesapeake,I even have a brother that lives near the Gilmerton.Unfortunately a good prtion of the Elizabeth River has been locked up with stationary blinds.Stay in touch with me as the season gets closer and we can trade info and try to find a few birds.
Wolfy and Rabid thanks for the encouragement and thanks for reading!
NICE WOODY T DOGG.
Dirtejp- I don't know how we don't know each other (I am Tug's brother). Graduate of Va Tech forestry and I've worked in wetland restoration in VA and MD since 1997. I worked for RK&K for quite a while, they have an office in Va Beach (I did some city wetland and endang. species work for the new courthouse area).
We have a 2 year old son, so I know what you mean! You get out when you can! I come in town a few times a year and maybe we'll all get to catch up.
Hey River, nice to meet you, even if not face to face yet. It would be great to catch up with you and Tug some time. I get really excited to meet other guys my age that are into hunting ducks, or any kind of hunting and fishing for that matter.
I'm surprised w don't know each other too. I grew up in Virginia Beach. I went to Virginia Tech to get my architecture degree. I've always been into getting outside to go fishing or paddling or hutning. Let me know the next time you're in town maybe we can all get together.
